On March 18 and 19, 2018, researchers at Ponta Grossa State University collected soil samples to evaluate the influence of Biochar on soil structure. For this, the researcher Neyde Giarola applies a concept called VSSE (abbreviation of "visual evaluation of the soil structure"). This makes it possible to check if the application of Biochar has an effect on the structural improvement of the soil.

Currently, VSSE has emerged as a very fast and accurate way of assessing soil structure.
